Michael Dempsey

 Michael Dempsey

Thirty years in the business.

Nine years bringing his insights to online horse bettors.

Michael Dempsey has been handicapping thoroughbreds for three decades, getting his start when a buddy introduced him to his $1,500 claimer running at Charles Town (the horse finished dead last). Michael has been hooked ever since. In the pre-simulcast days, Michael traveled from Charles Town to Pimlico to Delaware Park with his homemade speed figures and trip notes.

Michael was a partner in the Hampshire Racing Partnership for six years, and as a horse owner racing thoroughbreds throughout the Mid Atlantic region, he knows the sport from trackside to backstretch.

Michael created the Winners Circle Handicapping Syndicate, a group devoted to hitting the big carryover pools and the Breeders' Cup Pick 6, and on the way introduced many new fans to the sport of horse racing. The groups' resume included several Pick 6 hits, and a Twin Tri score at Laurel Park for $15,684.30 with only one live ticket.

Michael is a freelance writer and full time professional handicapper and horseplayer, and previously was one of the top handicappers for TrackMaster/Equibase for over a decade, consistently picking winners for a loyal base of customers.

In 1999, Michael left his handicapping position at TrackMaster/Equibase to create Turf'nSport. Since then, horseplayers around the world have stopped by Turfnsport for Michael's full-card analysis and selections, and for his opinions on anything and everything to do with horse racing, sports, and gambling.

His selections and analysis for New York, Florida, and Kentucky tracks and his National Best Plays Report are also available at trackexperts.com and theyareatthepost.com

Michael created and was host and producer of the TurfnSport Radio Network. It was one of horse racing's first Internet web casts dedicated to the sport. During its four-year run, Michael interviewed hundreds of guests in the industry including Hall of Famers Gary Stevens, Mike Smith, Julie Krone, Bill Shoemaker and "Bud" Delp.

Mike can now be heard each Saturday morning at 11:00 eastern on Down the Stretch Radio on ESPN 950 in Richmond Va. and over the Internet at www.wxgi.com.

He is on the voting committee for the Global Top 10, which ranks the current top ten horses in training.

Michael now resides in Florida with his wife Mary, who does not seem to mind the 70-hour work week he puts in handicapping, writing, and playing the ponies. He is the host of TurfNSport and you are his guest in learning about winning at horse betting.
