Saratoga Race Course Stakes Schedule
Saratoga opens for its 142nd season on Friday, July 23, with an expanded 40-day meeting that runs until Monday, Sept. 6.
Many of top horses in training will make their way to Saratoga Springs over the next seven weeks, as there are 35 graded stakes on the calendar including 17 Grade 1 races.
The marquee event of the meeting is the $1 million Travers on Saturday, Aug. 28.
Known to racing fans as the "Midsummer Derby," this year's running may feature all three Triple Crown race winners.
The connections of Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, Preakness Stakes winner Lookin At Lucky, and Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer are all pointing toward the race.
The Travers will be supported by an outstanding day of racing that also includes the $200,000 Ballston Spa (G2), $100,000 Victory Ride (G3), $250,000 King's Bishop (G1), and the $250,000 Ballerina (G1).

The spring/summer meeting at Churchill Downs gets underway on Saturday April 30, with 24 graded stakes on the betting menu. The marquee events are the Kentucky Oaks (G1) and Kentucky Derby (G1).
